We are thrilled you are considering joining the ISASA Retirement Fund! Our Fund offers a range of benefits designed to support your financial future and ensure peace of mind. Here are some of the key benefits your school will enjoy by joining the ISASA Retirement Fund:
Our Fund is managed by a professional Board of Trustees, comprising six regional Member-elected Trustees, one Pensioner-elected Trustee, and five Employer-appointed Trustees, which include a SAHISA representative, a SABISA representative, and three ISASA-appointed Trustees. The Board elects an independent Chairperson, and Alternate Member Trustees are chosen to act in the absence of Member-elected Trustees. Additionally, the Fund has an Independent Principal Officer to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
With a large membership base, the Fund is able to offer risk benefits (death and disability) at competitive and affordable rates.
We provide a Voluntary Funeral Scheme that covers funeral benefits for the entire family, offering support during difficult times.
If your school opted for this optional benefit, you will receive one times your annual salary (maximum of R3 million) when you are diagnosed with a critical illness such as cancer, heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, etc.
· It covers 38 critical events.
· You can convert this to an individual policy when you leave the Fund.
· Proof of health is required when you earn more than 2.2 million ZAR.
Our Fund members can access pension-backed home loans through FNB at Prime less 1.15%, making home ownership more attainable.
We collaborate with top-tier service providers to deliver state-of-the-art solutions, helping our members plan for and enjoy a comfortable retirement.
For retiring members, we offer two Default Annuity products: the Old Mutual Fund Select Annuity (Life Annuity) and the Old Mutual Max Income Investment Funded Income Annuity (Living Annuity). These products come with a helpful at-retirement guidance process, supported by an Old Mutual Retirement Benefits Counsellor or a member’s personal financial adviser.
Old Mutual's Rewards programme allows members to earn points by building financial knowledge and making wise financial decisions. Activities include financial assessments, using online calculators, and completing education modules on Moneyversity, Old Mutual’s financial education hub. This programme encourages sound financial behaviour, helping members manage their finances effectively and plan for a secure future.
The ISASA Retirement Fund is a repeat winner of the IRFA Best Practice Communication Awards and in 2022, won the overall trophy for excellence in compliance across six key areas: stakeholder engagement, transformation, trustee development, financial management and reporting, governance, and investment practice.
If your school cannot meet the minimum contributions requirement, don’t worry. You can work your way up to those contributions over a period of five years.
